Norman Rockwell’s name is synonymous with Americana, nostalgia and the Saturday Evening Post. His vivid and affectionate portraits of our country will always be remembered for capturing the essence and innocence of America like no other artist. Although best known for sweet, evocative story-in-a-picture illustrations, Rockwell also made artistic statements about the issues concerning the nation and all Americans.

On August 15th, 16th and 17th, the Kennebunks will be celebrating Norman Rockwell and Small Town America.

• Friday August 15th ; Finding Norman Rockwell’s Small Town America – an exhibit by Maine photographer’s works influenced by Norman Rockwell’s nostalgia feel of small town moments reignites the appreciation of the innocence of small towns.
 
• Friday August 15th; Saluting Small Town America – an exhibit of Norman Rockwell inspired Artwork by Maine artists especially created to capture the sweet essence of what Rockwell’s work evoked.
 
• Friday August 15th The Norman Rockwell Code Southern Maine’s Movie Premier of The Norman Rockwell Code – the hilarious spoof on that “other” movie, The DaVinci Code. Meet the Stars! Don’t Miss the Fun!
 
• Saturday August 16th; An Evening of Norman Rockwell’s Famous Saturday Evening Post Illustrations will be brought to life in six 15 minute plays written by Maine playwrights. Intermission to benefit Community Harvest. Fun musical entertainment is scheduled.
 
• Sunday August 17th; Dinner with Norman Rockwell – recreating Freedom of Want(the famous Thanksgiving Dinner painting) complete with Grandparents for each table will be part of this dinner benefiting our local community YMCA. Music of the 40’s and 50’s is scheduled.
